Mindfulness & Mindful Self-Compassion approaches.
In recent years Mindfulness and
indeed Compassion have been integrated from their mainly Eastern roots
into Western Well Being and therapeutic approaches, such as Mindfulness Based Stress
Reduction (MBSR), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT),
Mindful Self Compassion (MSC)
Mindfulness training involves an intention to develop
our mental capacity, in a way that allows us to relate to our experience in a more skillful way, as it is happening in the current moment. It could be called going to the Gym for our minds.
Williams et al. state (2007.p.194) “the central message of the whole mindfulness
program :to learn how to relate differently to the constantly changing
patterns in the mind and the body ;to hold the recurrent patterns of both mind
and body in the accepting and open hearted embrace of awareness”.

John Kabbat Zinn,(2008) Defines
Mindfulness as paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the
present moment, and non-judgementally, it involves moving from a doing
goal orientated existence, into a being mode.it allows us to be more in
touch with our being, through a systematic process of self-observation.
